Introduce Your Project!

Good day, students!
My name is Victoria Vladimirovna.

Your final task is to creat a kind of short intro to your project.
You should mention the name of your work, with whom did you work and say a few words about the main course of the project.
The point is that you shouldn't do a lot of things, just give a very brief summary of what you have been working at.
I wish you good luck!

You can also visit a website. Maybe it will somehow help you.

  3. I've decided to choose a topic connected with English, so the name of the project is "AMERICAN INDIANS AND THEIR INFLUENCE ON THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE".
The purposes of it are to learn about American Indian culture, to show the changes of the Native Americans’ life since the settling of the Europeans and to show the influence of Amerindians on the life and language of American nation.
The project is supposed to be discussed with students of the English faculty, in a group of 7-8 students, perhaps.
A short initial plan of the work:
    1. Introduction (general information about Amerindians, given by the supervisor of the project)
    2. History and culture (five periods of Amerindians’ life, cultural aspects, society and art, religion, some Amerindian tribes)
    3. American Indian borrowings in English (includes listening and reading)
    4. Research work (analysing the information)
    5. Drawing a conclusion

The project also includes the necessary vocabulary for an unassisted study.

  4. Thank you, cool answer. I really like it. The word "Amerindians" is a super-awesome blending. I adore it really.Use it as an example when you have the seminars in lexicology.
    Some minor drawbacks:
    1. we usually say "English people" or "the English". So, add an article or the word "people". The same is about the language, actually.
    2. "The purposes of it " doesn't sound well. better to say "its' purposes" or simply 'the purposes are" and nothing else.

  5. Thanks! The word "Amerindians" is not mine, actually. Unfortunately, as I see now.
As for the word "English" it is used without any article if we mean the language, and with the definite article if it is followed by the word "language".
"The purposes of the project" is just taken from my previous little survey and my supervisor says it's okay in the official style.
Nevertheless, thanks for the attention and your advice!
